What is CCTV installation in Abu Dhabi?

CCTV installation in Abu Dhabi refers to the professional design, supply, and fitting of closed-circuit television (CCTV) and IP security camera systems for round-the-clock video surveillance for residential, commercial, and industrial properties in compliance with Abu Dhabi Monitoring & Control Centre (ADMCC) regulations. Emirtech Technology is an ADMCC-approved security systems integrator based in Mussafah, Abu Dhabi, providing end-to-end CCTV services — from site survey and camera placement planning through to cabling, recorder configuration, remote-access setup, and ongoing maintenance. All Emirtech installations use high-definition IP and HD cameras from major brands including Hikvision, Dahua, and Uniview (UNV). Emirtech is rated 4.9/5 from 960 Google reviews (see our customer reviews).

  • Bullet cameras — Highly visible deterrent; suited to perimeters, car parks, and long-distance outdoor monitoring.
  • PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) cameras — Motorised optics for wide-area coverage; used at building entrances and in large warehouses.
  • Fisheye / 360° cameras — Single camera covers an entire room or open-plan floor; minimises blind spots.
  • Turret / eyeball cameras — Flexible repositioning without removing the housing; popular for commercial interiors.
  • LPR cameras — Licence-plate-recognition optimised for car parks, barriers, and gated communities.

CCTV for Business: Benefits & Compliance

Businesses in Abu Dhabi have a dual obligation: protecting assets and people while meeting ADMCC surveillance requirements for commercial premises. A professionally installed CCTV system addresses both.

Business Benefits

  • Crime & theft deterrence — Visible cameras reduce the likelihood of burglary, shoplifting, and employee theft; recorded footage supports insurance claims and police investigations.
  • Workplace safety monitoring — CCTV at entrances, exits, and car parks makes staff feel safer and provides evidence in the event of an incident or HR dispute.
  • Operational oversight — Managers can review footage to optimise workflows, verify procedures are followed, and resolve customer complaints.
  • Evidence for legal proceedings — High-definition recordings can be submitted as evidence in UAE legal proceedings, subject to the court's assessment, and assist authorities in identifying suspects.
  • Remote management — Multi-site businesses can consolidate camera feeds into a single NVR or cloud VMS, accessible from any device anywhere in the world.

ADMCC Compliance in Abu Dhabi

The Abu Dhabi Monitoring & Control Centre (ADMCC) sets mandatory standards for CCTV systems installed in commercial buildings, shopping malls, hotels, hospitals, and government-adjacent properties. Requirements typically cover minimum camera resolution, recording retention periods (set by premises category), secure transmission protocols, and network integration. Emirtech's ADMCC-approved status means every commercial installation we deliver is documented and tested, and designed to align with these standards; ADMCC makes the final approval decision. What a complete CCTV system includes

A quotation that lists only cameras is incomplete. A working system has several parts, and each one needs to be sized for your site:

  • Recorder and storage: an NVR (IP cameras) or DVR (analogue HD), with drives sized for the number of cameras, resolution and the retention period you need (see how long CCTV footage is stored).
  • Network switch: for IP cameras, a PoE switch carries power and video on one cable, so the port count and total power budget must match the camera list.
  • Cabling and mounting: Cat 6 or fibre for long runs, brackets, junction boxes and weather-rated housings where cameras face the sun, dust or rain.
  • Power protection: a UPS on the recorder and switch keeps recording through short power cuts and allows a clean shutdown.
  • Viewing and accounts: a monitor, the mobile app, and named user accounts so each person sees only what they should.
  • Handover pack: a camera schedule, a plan showing where each camera points, and the administrator logins given to the owner.

How camera positions are chosen: the DORI levels

Placing a camera is not only about covering an area; it is about how many pixels land on a person. The IEC 62676-4 application guideline, as summarised by Axis, defines four levels of detail with minimum pixel densities (Axis whitepaper on IEC 62676-4 pixel density):

LevelWhat a viewer can doPixels per metre
DetectionTell whether a person is present25
ObservationCount people and see distinctive details such as clothing63
RecognitionJudge whether a person is the same as someone seen before125
IdentificationIdentify an individual250

The figures assume an average face width of 16 cm and apply to images viewed by people, not to video analytics. In practice this means an entrance door is planned for identification level, while a long fence line may only need detection. Mounting height, lens, lighting and backlight from glass doors change the result, which is why we confirm positions at the survey and not from a drawing alone. Our resolution comparison explains how 2 MP, 4 MP and 8 MP cameras differ.

Securing the CCTV system itself

The UK National Cyber Security Centre advises changing the default camera password, keeping the camera updated, turning off remote internet viewing if you do not need it, and disabling UPnP and port forwarding on the router if you do not need them (NCSC guidance). We apply the same principles on business systems: unique passwords handed to the owner, firmware checked at handover, and cameras kept on a separate network from office computers where the site allows. Read more in our CCTV cybersecurity guide.

Request a free site survey and bring a floor plan if you have one; we will list every part above in the written quotation.

Answers

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Emirtech Technology an ADMCC-approved CCTV installer in Abu Dhabi?
Yes. Emirtech Technology is authorised by the Abu Dhabi Monitoring & Control Centre (ADMCC) and all our commercial CCTV installations are designed to align with ADMCC resolution, retention, and network standards. We provide full documentation for regulatory sign-off.
How much does CCTV installation cost in Abu Dhabi?
CCTV installation costs vary depending on the number of cameras, camera type (HD analogue vs. IP), cable runs, storage requirements, and site conditions. Emirtech offers a free no-obligation site survey and itemised quotation — contact us at [email protected] or call +971 55 651 7843 to arrange a visit.
What camera brands does Emirtech install?
Emirtech installs major brands including Hikvision, Dahua, Uniview (UNV), and UniFi Protect. We select hardware based on the specific requirements of each project to ensure long-term reliability and manufacturer warranty coverage.
Do you install CCTV for homes as well as businesses?
Yes. Emirtech provides CCTV installation for residential villas and apartments, commercial offices and retail outlets, warehouses, and government or industrial facilities across Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.
Do you install CCTV systems in Dubai?
No. Emirtech is ADMCC-approved for Abu Dhabi, not SIRA-approved for Dubai. We install CCTV in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain; CCTV is SIRA-regulated in Dubai, so Dubai CCTV projects should be handled by a SIRA-licensed contractor of the client's choosing. See CCTV installation in Dubai vs Abu Dhabi: SIRA vs ADMCC.
What is the difference between IP cameras and analogue HD cameras?
IP cameras transmit video over a network (Cat 6 or fibre), support resolutions up to 4K, and enable advanced AI analytics such as facial detection and people counting. Analogue HD cameras (HD-TVI/CVI) use existing coaxial cabling and are a cost-effective upgrade path for older installations, typically supporting resolutions up to 5 MP. Emirtech will recommend the best technology for your budget and site infrastructure.
How long is CCTV footage typically stored?
Storage duration depends on the number of cameras, resolution, and recording schedule. As a guideline, a 4-camera 1080p system recording 24/7 requires roughly 1.5 to 4 TB of storage for 30 days, depending on codec and bitrate. ADMCC sets the retention period by premises category, and we confirm it at survey. Emirtech dimensions storage correctly at the design stage.
Do you offer maintenance contracts for CCTV systems?
Yes. Emirtech offers Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMC) that include scheduled preventive inspections, camera cleaning, firmware updates, hard-drive health checks, and fault response on terms agreed in the AMC contract. An AMC protects your investment and helps keep the system aligned with ongoing ADMCC requirements. See CCTV camera repair in Abu Dhabi. Details: CCTV AMC in Abu Dhabi.
How do I book a CCTV installation in Abu Dhabi?
You can request a free site survey by filling in our online quotation form or calling our team on +971 55 651 7843. An Emirtech engineer will visit, assess your requirements, and provide a detailed written proposal after the survey.
How long does CCTV installation take in Abu Dhabi?
For most residential properties, a standard system of 4-8 cameras is installed and commissioned within a single day. Commercial installations of 8-16 cameras typically take 1-3 days depending on cable-run length and whether ADMCC compliance documentation is required. Larger enterprise or multi-site projects (30+ cameras) are usually delivered within 1-2 weeks of design approval. Your exact timeline is confirmed during the free site survey, based on camera count, cabling complexity and site access.
Which company is the best for installing CCTV in the UAE?
There is no single "best" installer for every situation — the right choice depends on your location, budget and compliance needs. Look for a company that holds the correct regulatory approval for your emirate (ADMCC in Abu Dhabi, SIRA in Dubai), uses in-house rather than subcontracted engineers, gives a written, itemised quotation after a proper site survey, and is transparent about which brands it is — and isn't — an authorised partner of. Emirtech meets that bar for Abu Dhabi and Al Ain: ADMCC-approved, in-house engineers, free surveys and honest brand disclosure on every page. For the full checklist, see our guide to choosing a CCTV company in Abu Dhabi. Our guide: how to choose a CCTV company in Abu Dhabi.
What are ADMCC and MCC, and how do I check a CCTV installer in Abu Dhabi?
ADMCC and MCC are both used for the Abu Dhabi Monitoring and Control Centre, the body that regulates CCTV and monitoring work in Abu Dhabi (Arabic: مركز المتابعة والتحكم). Abu Dhabi Police advise residents to use a company licensed to install and maintain surveillance systems, to ask the company for its credentials and to check the Monitoring and Control Centre website. Requirements depend on the type of premises, so confirm yours with the Centre. Emirtech is ADMCC-approved for security systems, and you are welcome to ask any installer, including us, for its reference. Reviewed October 2026. See what ADMCC approval means for CCTV in Abu Dhabi.
NVR or DVR, and PoE or Wi-Fi cameras: which should I choose?
An NVR records IP cameras over the network and suits new installations, higher resolution and later expansion; a DVR records analogue HD cameras over coaxial cable and mainly suits keeping existing cabling. PoE cameras take power and data over one network cable, which is more reliable and secure for a villa or business than Wi-Fi cameras, which depend on signal strength and a router. Emirtech recommends a design after a free site survey, then gives a written quotation.
Can you upgrade my existing CCTV system instead of replacing it?
Yes, in many cases. After a free site survey we check which cameras, cabling and recorder can stay: analogue HD cameras on coaxial cable can be kept with a new recorder or moved to IP in stages (see our analogue to IP upgrade guide). Whether an existing system meets the requirements for your type of premises depends on the premises and on the Monitoring and Control Centre, so we cannot confirm compliance without checking it. We then give a written quotation.
What does a CCTV system include besides the cameras?
A complete system also needs a recorder (NVR or DVR) with storage sized for your retention period, a PoE switch for IP cameras, cabling and mounting, power protection such as a UPS, user accounts and the mobile app, and a handover pack with a camera plan and the administrator logins. Each part is listed in the written quotation after the free site survey.
How do you decide where cameras go and how many pixels I need?
We plan from the purpose of each view. The IEC 62676-4 guideline, as summarised by Axis, uses four levels: detection at 25 pixels per metre, observation at 63, recognition at 125 and identification at 250. An entrance meant to identify people needs far more pixels on the face than a fence line meant only to detect movement. Lens, mounting height and lighting are confirmed at the survey.
How do I stop my CCTV system being hacked?
Change the default password, keep the camera firmware updated, turn off remote internet viewing if you do not need it, and disable UPnP and port forwarding on the router if you do not need them; this is the UK NCSC's advice for security cameras. On business systems we also hand over unique passwords, check firmware at handover and keep cameras apart from office computers where the site allows.
What should I prepare before the CCTV site survey?
A floor plan or sketch, a list of the areas you want covered and why, the retention period you need, where the recorder can sit with power and network access, and who should be able to view footage. If you already have cameras, tell us how old they are so we can check what can stay. The engineer confirms everything on site and a written quotation follows.
