In short: This page covers “Earthing & Lightning Protection”: an inspection and testing service that gives a condition record, not a chartered consultancy certificate for authority submission. Emirtech replies to enquiries the same working day and does not offer 24/7 or emergency call-out. A site survey comes first, then a written itemised quotation.

Earthing & Lightning Protection: key facts

Who provides it?Emirtech Technology, based at M44, Mussafah Industrial Area, Abu Dhabi, in operation since 2018. Electrical work is carried out by Emirtech's team and its appointed subcontractors.
Where?Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, served from Emirtech's Mussafah, Abu Dhabi base; there is no Al Ain office. In Dubai Emirtech takes only IT AMC and time attendance projects.

Survey and quotationA site survey comes first, then a written, itemised quotation. Emirtech replies to enquiries the same working day; site hours are Monday to Saturday, 8 AM to 7 PM. It does not offer 24/7 or emergency call-out.
CredentialsADMCC approval covers Emirtech's security systems work only, not electrical or solar work. Connection approvals sit with ADDC in Abu Dhabi and AADC in Al Ain and their registered providers.
Please noteThe inspection and testing service gives a condition record. Emirtech is not a chartered consultancy issuing stamped certificates for authority submission, and statutory fire-alarm certification sits with an ADCD-certified provider. Emirtech is not a chartered engineering consultancy, does not stamp MEP drawings, and is not ADCD-certified for fire alarm work. It does not file utility applications or sign off for the utility.

What earthing and lightning-protection work do you carry out?

Every electrical installation depends on a proper earthing system: an earth electrode (or earth pit) driven into the ground, connected by an earthing conductor to the main earthing terminal at the distribution board, so that a fault sends current back to source fast enough for protective devices to trip rather than leaving dangerous voltage on exposed metalwork. We install and upgrade earth electrodes, main and supplementary bonding to extraneous metalwork (pipework, structural steel), and measure earth resistance with a proper earth tester rather than assuming an old electrode is still adequate.

At the board, we fit Type 2 surge protective devices (SPDs) as standard on new boards and upgrades, protecting connected equipment — including sensitive electronics, EV chargers and solar inverters — from transient voltage spikes reaching the installation through the supply. A dedicated external lightning-protection system (air terminals, down conductors, a lightning earth network sized to a formal risk assessment) is a specialist design scope: we can advise and coordinate, but for a building where a risk assessment identifies a genuine strike risk, that system's design should come from a qualified lightning-protection specialist, not be assumed as part of a standard electrical scope.

Our scope begins at the point of supply; metering and connection sit with ADDC (Abu Dhabi) or AADC (Al Ain). To scope earthing or surge-protection work, call +971 55 651 7843 or email [email protected].

Capabilities

Earthing & surge-protection capabilities

Earth electrode installation

New or upgraded earth electrodes / earth pits, sized and positioned to achieve the required resistance.

Main & supplementary bonding

Bonding of pipework and structural metalwork to the earthing system, closing the protective circuit.

Earth resistance testing

Measured with a proper earth tester and checked against the required value, not assumed.

Surge protection (SPD)

Type 2 SPDs at the distribution board, protecting equipment from transient voltage spikes.

EV & solar-ready earthing

Earthing and bonding verified as part of EV charger and solar installations, not assumed adequate.

Documented results

A test sheet recording earth resistance and continuity, handed over on completion.

Scope — what we deliver and explicitly do not

Earthing is core electrical work; a dedicated lightning-protection system is a specialist scope. We are clear about which is which.

  • We deliver: earth electrode installation and upgrade, main and supplementary bonding, earth resistance testing, and Type 2 surge protective device installation at the distribution board.
  • We do not deliver: dedicated external lightning-protection system design (air terminals, down conductors, lightning-specific earth networks) or the formal risk assessment behind it — that is a specialist consultancy scope we can coordinate but not design ourselves.
  • We are not: a chartered engineering consultancy, a lightning-protection design specialist, ADCD-certified for fire systems, or the distribution company. Our ADMCC approval covers security systems work only; it is not an electrical utility authorisation.
  • We are not affiliated with: ADDC, AADC, TAQA, the Department of Energy Abu Dhabi, ADCD, or any main contractor or consultancy.
  • Electrical coverage is Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. Electrical work in Dubai is carried out by DEWA-licensed contractors, and Emirtech is not DEWA-licensed, so we do not take that work in Dubai; we also do not mobilise to Sharjah or the Northern Emirates. For the technology side of a Dubai project (IT, networking, smart home) we can help and we coordinate with your appointed contractor, while CCTV there is SIRA-regulated and should be handled by a SIRA-licensed contractor of the client's choosing.

Common questions

FAQs

What is an earthing system, and why does my villa need one?
The earthing system gives fault current a safe, low-resistance path back to source so protective devices (RCDs/RCBOs) trip quickly instead of leaving a dangerous voltage on exposed metalwork. Every installation needs one — it is not optional — and its condition is checked as part of standard electrical testing.
Can you test my existing earth electrode?
Yes. We measure earth electrode resistance with a proper earth tester and confirm it against the value the installation design requires, not just assume it is adequate because it has always been there.
Do you install surge protection devices (SPDs)?
Yes — Type 2 SPDs at the distribution board are standard on new boards and upgrades we carry out, protecting connected equipment from transient voltage spikes reaching the installation through the supply.
Do you install external lightning protection (air terminals, down conductors)?
We install bonding and bonding-related earthing work as part of the internal electrical installation. A dedicated external lightning protection system (air rods, down conductors, a lightning-protection earth network per a specific risk assessment) is a specialist design scope we can advise on and coordinate, but we are not a lightning-protection design consultancy — for buildings where a formal risk assessment identifies a strike risk, that design should come from a qualified specialist.
What is bonding, and is it different from earthing?
Earthing connects the installation to earth; bonding connects extraneous conductive parts (metal pipework, structural steel) to the same earthing system so there is no dangerous voltage difference between them during a fault. Both are part of the same protective system, checked together during testing.
Which areas do you cover?
Abu Dhabi and Al Ain only.
