How a time attendance project works with Emirtech
- Site survey. Employee numbers, entrances, cabling and power at each terminal location, and any terminals you already own.
- Written quotation. An itemised quotation with the terminals, software, integration and exclusions.
- Installation. Terminals are mounted and connected, and the attendance software is set up.
- Enrolment and rules. Employees are enrolled, and shifts, grace periods and overtime are configured to your HR policy.
- Testing and handover. The system is tested with real punches and handed over; support follows the terms agreed in the contract.

How does a biometric time attendance system work?
Employees register their fingerprint or face once. On arrival and departure they verify at the terminal, which timestamps the event and sends it to attendance software that calculates hours, overtime and absences automatically.
Can the attendance system integrate with our payroll software?
Yes. Emirtech configures the system to export to or integrate with common UAE payroll and ERP platforms, so timesheets flow into payroll without manual re-entry.
Which brands of attendance terminals do you supply?
We install ZKTeco, Hikvision and other reliable face, fingerprint and card terminals, chosen to suit your staff numbers, environment and budget.
Can one device handle both attendance and door access?
Yes — most modern terminals do both, recording attendance while also controlling the door lock, which saves hardware cost.

Do you provide support and maintenance?
Yes — our Annual Maintenance Contracts cover the terminals and software updates, with support terms agreed in the contract.
What happens to attendance records if the internet or power goes down?
Networked attendance terminals normally keep punches in the device memory and send them to the software when the connection returns, but how many records a terminal can hold depends on the model, so Emirtech confirms this for the terminal chosen. Power-cut protection, such as a UPS or backup battery, is a quotation item to be agreed at the survey.
What if an employee cannot enrol a fingerprint?
Worn or damaged fingerprints are common in manual trades, so a fallback for those employees, such as a card, a PIN or face recognition, can be specified. Biometric data is sensitive personal data under the UAE PDPL, so offering a card or PIN alternative is good practice in any case. Emirtech does not certify PDPL compliance.
Can you connect the attendance terminals we already own?
Often yes, if the terminal's make, model and firmware can connect to standard attendance software, which Emirtech checks at the site survey. Some older or closed terminals cannot be connected and are replaced; the survey lists which. The quotation is written after that check.
Can staff clock in from site or in the field without a terminal?
Yes. Emirtech can set up mobile attendance with GPS location for staff without a fixed workplace, so they record their start and finish from a phone. Because location tracking of employees raises privacy questions, it should be agreed with staff and set out in your HR policy. See mobile and GPS time attendance for field workers.
What affects the cost of a time attendance system?
The number of employees and terminals, the type of terminal (card, fingerprint or face), whether the software is cloud or on-premise, payroll integration, cabling and power at each terminal location, and the number of sites. What is time theft, and how does biometric attendance reduce it beyond buddy punching?
Time theft is being paid for time not worked: buddy punching, late starts, early exits, extended breaks and rounding time up. Biometric identification stops one person punching for another, and the software's late-arrival, early-exit and break reports make the other patterns visible. It works best with a clear attendance policy that staff know about.
Is free attendance software enough for a small business?
Free software can be enough for a few employees on a single machine. Before relying on it, check the limits on users and devices, whether it supports your terminal model, which reports and payroll exports it offers, who provides support, and where the data is stored. Emirtech assesses these at the survey and recommends free or paid software based on your site.
