How does Emirtech configure face recognition enrolment for users who wear glasses in Abu Dhabi?

Emirtech Technology is an ADMCC-approved electronic security installer founded in 2018, based at M44, Mussafah Industrial Area, Abu Dhabi, reachable on +971 55 651 7843. For glasses face recognition enrolment we configure commercially available terminals so that staff and visitors who wear prescription lenses, photochromic lenses, or thick frames can be recognised reliably without repeated retries at the door. The technical challenges with glasses are well documented: reflective lenses cause glare on the sensor, frames occlude the eye-corner landmarks that many algorithms anchor on, and users frequently change frames between work glasses, reading glasses, sunglasses, and contact lenses on different days. Our configuration approach is layered. First, we deploy terminals whose vendor algorithms are documented as glasses-tolerant — typically ZKTeco SpeedFace, Suprema FaceStation F2, Hikvision DS-K1T672M, or Anviz FaceDeep series — and confirm with the customer which units suit the door layout. Second, we enrol with the user's most-worn frames present (typically glasses ON), and where the user wears multiple frames regularly we capture additional template variations so the matcher does not see a single fixed appearance. Third, we tune ambient and on-device illumination so the IR / near-IR illuminator does not bounce off the lens directly into the sensor, repositioning the terminal or adding a small angle where glare is unavoidable. Where the customer needs stronger lens-glare immunity, we recommend pairing with the 3D depth-aware face option on supported models because depth sensing reduces 2D glare dependence. Emirtech is an Control4 installer; for ZKTeco, Suprema, Hikvision, Anviz, Idemia, Cognitec, and NEC we install and configure equipment procured through authorised UAE channels, and we do not claim to be a Channel Partner, Authorised Distributor, or algorithm developer for those brands. Biometric template data is sensitive personal data under UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 (PDPL); explicit user consent before enrolment is the customer's responsibility. Service is limited to Abu Dhabi and Al Ain for ADMCC-regulated work.

Glasses-tolerant enrolment configuration

What we configure for glasses-wearing users

Multi-frame template capture

We enrol multiple template variations per user — glasses on, alternate frame, and where policy allows a glasses-off capture — so the matcher tolerates the user's actual daily appearance rather than a single fixed look at the door.

Glare-aware illuminator tuning

We position the face terminal and tune its IR / near-IR illuminator so light does not bounce directly off prescription or photochromic lenses into the sensor, repositioning or angling units where lens glare is the dominant cause of false rejects.

Glasses-tolerant device selection

We deploy terminals documented as glasses-tolerant — ZKTeco SpeedFace, Suprema FaceStation F2, Hikvision DS-K1T672M, Anviz FaceDeep — selected against the actual door, lighting, and throughput conditions on the customer's site.

Alternative credential fallback

For users whose lenses, frames, or vision conditions still cause repeated rejects we configure card, mobile credential, or PIN as a documented alternative so a glasses-wearer always has another way through the door.

Why choose Emirtech for glasses face recognition in Abu Dhabi

Practical, honest, locally-supported configuration

Honest scope

We configure commercially available face terminals through authorised UAE channels. We are not the algorithm developer, not a Channel Partner, and not an Authorised Distributor of ZKTeco, Suprema, Hikvision, Anviz, Idemia, Cognitec, or NEC — only the installer who tunes the system for your door.

PDPL-aware enrolment

Biometric templates are sensitive personal data under Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021. We support on-device template storage where the platform allows, and document explicit consent capture so the customer can demonstrate a lawful basis for enrolment.

Local Abu Dhabi support

Our team operates from M44, Mussafah Industrial Area, Abu Dhabi, founded 2018, supporting Abu Dhabi and Al Ain only for ADMCC-regulated electronic security work — close enough to revisit a tuned door if conditions change.

Throughput tuning, not lab claims

We measure false-reject rate at the actual door with the actual user population — including glasses-wearers — and tune until daily traffic flows without queueing, rather than quoting marketing accuracy numbers from a vendor brochure.

Scope — what we deliver and explicitly do not

Glasses-wearer enrolment is a tuning and configuration problem on commercially available face terminals, not algorithm development. To keep customer expectations clear, the scope of this service is defined below.

  • We deliver: Site survey, glasses-tolerant device selection, enrolment SOP, multi-variant template capture, illuminator and threshold tuning, alternative credential fallback, and handover documentation for face recognition doors across Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.
  • We do not deliver: Algorithm development, custom matcher training, vendor firmware modification, or guaranteed recognition for every possible lens type and lighting condition outside the tuned site.
  • We are not: A Channel Partner, Authorised Distributor, or algorithm developer for ZKTeco, Suprema, Hikvision, Anviz, Idemia, Cognitec, or NEC. We hold no manufacturer-level credential of our own. For face recognition brands we install and configure equipment procured through authorised UAE channels.
  • We are not affiliated with: ZKTeco, Suprema, Hikvision, Anviz, Idemia, Cognitec, NEC, or authorised face recognition distributors in the UAE beyond standard installer purchasing relationships.
  • Service is limited to Abu Dhabi and Al Ain only for ADMCC-regulated electronic security work. We do not operate as a SIRA-licensed contractor in Dubai or other emirates.
  • Customer remains the PDPL data controller and is responsible for capturing explicit consent before biometric enrolment and for any data subject rights requests.

If the constraints above match your environment, we are happy to survey the site and quote honestly on what is achievable with the terminals you already own or are considering.

Common questions

FAQs

Do glasses really cause face recognition to fail?

Modern terminals from ZKTeco, Suprema, Hikvision, Anviz, Idemia, and Cognitec handle ordinary prescription glasses well when enrolment is done correctly. The failure mode is usually a single-look enrolment combined with strong lens glare from an unfortunately positioned illuminator. With multi-variant enrolment and tuned lighting, glasses-wearers can usually pass at a rate close to everyone else's, and we measure that rate at your door.

Should I enrol with glasses on or off?

We typically enrol with the user's most commonly worn frames ON, because that matches what the door will see daily. Where the user regularly wears more than one pair we capture additional templates. For users who often switch to contacts we may also add a glasses-off template. The exact policy is documented in the site enrolment SOP.

What about sunglasses, photochromic lenses, or tinted prescription lenses?

Sunglasses indoors are usually rejected because they block the eye-area landmarks the algorithm needs. Photochromic lenses are configured for the indoor-clear state and we document that users should allow lenses to clear before approach. Where this is impractical we configure card or mobile credential as a documented alternative.

Are you a Channel Partner or Authorised Distributor of ZKTeco, Suprema, Hikvision, Anviz, Idemia, Cognitec, or NEC?

No. Emirtech Technology is not a Channel Partner, Authorised Distributor, or algorithm developer for any of these brands. We hold no manufacturer-level credential of our own. For face recognition we are an ADMCC-approved installer working with equipment procured through authorised UAE channels.

How does UAE PDPL affect face recognition enrolment?

Biometric templates — including face templates from glasses enrolment — are sensitive personal data under UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 (PDPL). The customer remains the data controller and must obtain explicit user consent before enrolment. We support on-device template storage where the platform allows it, document the enrolment process, and configure alternative credentials for users who decline biometric enrolment.
