What does Modbus integration between access control and industrial systems involve in Abu Dhabi?

Emirtech Technology is an ADMCC-approved electronic security installer based at M44, Mussafah Industrial Area, Abu Dhabi, founded in 2018, delivering Modbus integration between access control and industrial systems across Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. Modbus (Modicon Bus, an industrial protocol introduced in 1979 and still dominant in industrial control) is implemented in three common variants on UAE sites — Modbus RTU over RS-485 serial, Modbus TCP over Ethernet, and the legacy Modbus ASCII form. Our scope on these projects is the access-control and integration side: industrial gate access linked to a PLC interlock, process control room access tied to SCADA permissions, equipment access where a card swipe enables machine operation, and industrial alarm panels feeding an integrated dashboard. We configure Modbus register mappings on access controllers, gateway devices and head-end software so that door state, reader events and alarm conditions are exchanged correctly with Siemens SIMATIC, Allen-Bradley (Rockwell), Mitsubishi, Schneider Modicon and ABB PLC equipment already installed and programmed by the plant operator or their automation contractor. Environments we can scope for include cement plants, steel plants, non-classified portions of oil-and-gas plants, non-classified water and utilities sites, and manufacturing facilities. We are not a member or representative of the Modbus Organization, we are not a Channel Partner or Authorised Distributor of Siemens, Rockwell, Mitsubishi, Schneider or ABB, and we are not a PLC programming firm, SCADA engineering firm or OT-cybersecurity specialist. We are not SIRA-licensed (Dubai), not ISO 27001 / NESA / ADHICS / PDPL certified, and not a 24/7 SOC operator. All Modbus, PLC and SCADA hardware is procured through authorised UAE channels; engineering, classified-area work and safety-instrumented functions remain with the appointed industrial automation and process safety contractors. For a written integration scope, register-map review and quotation across Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, call +971 55 651 7843, email [email protected] or visit our office at M44, Mussafah Industrial Area.

Modbus integration capabilities

Where Modbus links access control with industrial plant systems

Industrial gate access to PLC

Configure access controllers and Modbus gateways so vehicle gate readers, barrier status and interlock signals exchange registers with Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, Schneider or ABB PLCs already programmed by the plant automation contractor.

Control room and SCADA permissions

Tie process control room door access to operator permission tables exposed over Modbus TCP, so only authorised shift personnel can enter while events are mirrored to the existing SCADA head-end for situational awareness.

Equipment access and machine enable

Wire card-reader and biometric enable signals to PLC equipment-permissive registers so machine operation requires a valid swipe, supporting competence-based access on production lines without altering existing safety-instrumented logic. The swipe is an operational permissive, not a safety function; emergency stops and safety interlocks stay with the plant's safety system.

Industrial alarm panel integration

Bridge intrusion, perimeter and tamper alarms into the industrial alarm panel and operator dashboard using Modbus RTU or TCP mappings, with clear register documentation handed to the plant automation team.

Modbus integration delivery across Abu Dhabi and Al Ain

We survey the existing PLC, SCADA and access estate, agree a Modbus register map with the plant automation contractor, install gateways and serial / Ethernet cabling within the agreed scope, and hand over documented mappings for ongoing operation. For a written Modbus integration scope across Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, call +971 55 651 7843 or request a free Modbus integration consultation.

Industrial sectors and PLC environments

Where Modbus access integration can apply

Cement and steel plants

Gate, weighbridge and control room access integrated with existing PLC and SCADA at cement and steel facilities in the Abu Dhabi and Al Ain industrial belt, working alongside the plant automation contractor for register agreement.

Non-classified oil and gas areas

Access and alarm integration in administrative buildings, control rooms and non-classified zones of oil and gas plants. Classified-area work, hazardous-area certification and safety-instrumented functions remain with the appointed specialist contractors.

Water and utilities (non-classified)

Site gate, pump station enclosure and control building access tied to Modbus-capable PLCs and SCADA, supporting authority and operator audit trails without altering process control or protection logic.

Manufacturing and logistics

Production line equipment enable, warehouse gate access and dock door interlocks integrated with manufacturing PLCs over Modbus RTU or TCP, with clear demarcation between access scope and automation engineering scope.

Scope — what we deliver and explicitly do not

Modbus is an open industrial protocol, not a regulatory framework. Our role is the access-control and integration side. PLC programming, SCADA engineering, hazardous-area certification and OT-cybersecurity hardening remain with the appointed industrial specialists and the plant operator.

  • We deliver: Modbus RTU and Modbus TCP integration between access controllers, gateways and existing PLC / SCADA equipment across Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, including register-map configuration, RS-485 and Ethernet cabling within the agreed scope, gate and door interlock wiring, alarm panel mapping, function testing and operator handover with documented mappings.
  • We do not deliver: PLC programming or ladder logic development, SCADA application engineering, DCS configuration, safety-instrumented system (SIS) work, hazardous-area Ex certification, process control room ergonomic design, OT cybersecurity hardening, ISO/IEC 62443 assessments, or industrial software development.
  • We are not: a member or representative of the Modbus Organization, a Channel Partner or Authorised Distributor of Siemens, Rockwell Automation (Allen-Bradley), Mitsubishi Electric, Schneider Electric or ABB, a PLC programming firm, a SCADA engineering firm, an OT-cybersecurity specialist, or a SIRA-licensed contractor (Dubai). We hold no manufacturer credential of our own; ADMCC-approved is the only Abu Dhabi electronic-security credential we claim.
  • We are not affiliated with: Modbus Organization, Siemens, Rockwell Automation (Allen-Bradley), Mitsubishi Electric, Schneider Electric, ABB, or authorised Modbus / PLC distributors in the UAE. PLC and gateway hardware is procured through authorised UAE channels; engineering responsibility for process control remains with the appointed automation contractor.
  • Geographic scope for ADMCC-regulated electronic security work is Abu Dhabi and Al Ain only; sites in Dubai, Sharjah and the Northern Emirates require a locally licensed contractor for the regulated electronic-security elements.
  • We are not certified to ISO 27001, NESA, ADHICS or PDPL, and we are not a 24/7 SOC operator, DoH, ADAFSA, DCT, ADCD fire-alarm certified contractor, or ONVIF / PSIA certification body.

Common questions

FAQs

What Modbus variants do you support on Abu Dhabi industrial sites?

We configure Modbus RTU over RS-485 serial, Modbus TCP over Ethernet, and where legacy panels require it, Modbus ASCII. Variant selection follows the existing PLC and SCADA estate at the plant rather than being driven by us, and we agree the choice with the plant automation contractor before wiring or gateways are committed.

Which PLC brands can you integrate access control with?

We can configure Modbus exchanges with Siemens SIMATIC, Allen-Bradley (Rockwell), Mitsubishi, Schneider Modicon and ABB equipment. We are not a Channel Partner or Authorised Distributor of any of these brands; hardware is procured via authorised UAE channels and PLC programming remains with the appointed automation contractor.

Are you authorised by the Modbus Organization or these PLC manufacturers?

No. We are ADMCC-approved for electronic security installation in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, and a Control4 installer working with a third-party authorised dealer for residential and light commercial automation. We are not a member or representative of the Modbus Organization and not authorised by Siemens, Rockwell, Mitsubishi, Schneider or ABB. We install and configure the access-control side and integrate to their equipment within that defined scope.

Do you do PLC programming, SCADA engineering or OT cybersecurity?

No. PLC ladder logic, SCADA application development, DCS work, safety-instrumented systems, hazardous-area Ex certification and OT cybersecurity hardening sit with the plant operator, the appointed industrial automation contractor and specialist OT security firms. Our scope is the access-control and Modbus integration interface only.

Can you cover sites in Dubai or the Northern Emirates?

For ADMCC-regulated electronic security work, our scope is Abu Dhabi and Al Ain only. In Dubai, CCTV, alarm and access control are delivered through SIRA-approved partners, with Emirtech coordinating.
