How does Emirtech deliver hospital surgical suite access control in Abu Dhabi?
Emirtech Technology has delivered electronic security and access control across Abu Dhabi and Al Ain since 2018, operating as an integrator (ADMCC-approved for security systems) from our M44 workshop in Mussafah Industrial Area, Abu Dhabi. For hospital surgical suites we configure access control across the three classical zone tiers — semi-restricted, restricted and the sterile core — so that only credentialed surgeons, scrub nurses, anaesthetists, anaesthetist technicians and circulating nurses cross each threshold. Reader hardware is selected for theatre conditions: stainless-steel housings, IP-rated faceplates that tolerate routine disinfectant wipe-down, touch-free face-recognition readers that preserve scrubbed-hand sterility and foot-pedal door release at scrub-room thresholds. The sterile core is configured with no direct outside-corridor entry, and we coordinate with your HVAC consultant so positive-pressure interlocks at theatre and scrub-room doors are respected by the access controller logic. Code-blue emergency override is designed so that a reader fault does not gate resuscitation teams, and it is tested at commissioning. Where the hospital uses an HIS or surgical scheduling platform, we can surface the active case-to-theatre mapping on door-side displays. Biometric template data captured for staff enrolment is sensitive personal data under UAE PDPL (Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021) and is handled with explicit consent, minimised retention and restricted operator access. HIS-Linked Door Display
Optional door-side displays show the active surgical case and assigned theatre when the HIS or scheduling platform exposes a feed, reducing wrong-room entries during turnover and parallel-theatre lists.

Bio-Medical Engineer Interface
We deliver the access control layer only. Medical-gas pendants, surgical lights, anaesthetic machines and theatre table integration sit with your in-house or contracted bio-medical engineering team, with whom we share door-state telemetry.
HVAC Pressure Coordination
Positive-pressure interlocks and air-change strategy are owned by the mechanical consultant. Our controllers respect interlock signals so theatre and ante-room doors do not breach the pressure cascade during turnover.
PDPL Biometric Handling
Staff face templates are processed as sensitive personal data under UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021, with explicit consent, minimised retention, encrypted storage and segregated operator roles for enrolment versus audit.
Authorised Channel Hardware
Readers, controllers and door hardware are procured through authorised UAE channels with manufacturer warranty intact. Emirtech is not a distributor of hospital surgical equipment brands and does not present itself as one.
Scope — what we deliver and explicitly do not
Hospital surgical suites combine high-stakes clinical workflow with strict zoning and infection-control discipline. We are deliberate about which layer Emirtech owns and which layers belong to your clinical, bio-medical and regulatory partners.
- We deliver: design, supply, install and configure of access control hardware, controllers, touch-free readers, foot-pedal release, door position monitoring, zone-based role logic, code-blue override wiring, audit reporting and PDPL-aligned biometric enrolment workflows across Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.
- We do not deliver: medical-gas systems, surgical lights, anaesthetic machines, theatre tables, autoclaves, HVAC pressure cascades, theatre construction, infection-control commissioning or clinical workflow design.
- We are not: Department of Health Abu Dhabi (DoH) licensed, a bio-medical engineering firm, an authorised distributor of Steris, Skytron, Drager or Maquet (Getinge), and we hold no SIRA, ISO 27001, NESA, ADHICS, ADAFSA or ADCD fire-alarm certification. We hold no manufacturer credential of our own, which is not applicable to OT access.
- We are not affiliated with: Department of Health Abu Dhabi (DoH), SEHA, Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, NMC, Burjeel, Mediclinic, Steris, Skytron, Drager, Maquet (Getinge) or any authorised hospital surgical access distributor in the UAE.

No. Emirtech is ADMCC-approved for electronic security and access control across Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. We are not DoH-licensed and we are not a bio-medical engineering firm. Clinical, medical-gas, surgical-equipment and infection-control scope sits with the hospital bio-medical team or a DoH-licensed clinical engineering contractor. We deliver only the access control layer.
Are you an authorised distributor of Steris, Skytron, Drager or Maquet (Getinge)?
No. We are not a Channel Partner or Authorised Distributor of any hospital surgical equipment brand. We hold no manufacturer credential of our own, which is not used for operating theatre access. Where readers, controllers and door hardware are required, we source through authorised UAE channels with manufacturer warranty intact.
How do you handle staff biometric data under UAE PDPL?
Face-recognition templates used at theatre and scrub-room readers are sensitive personal data under UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021. We configure explicit-consent enrolment, minimised retention periods agreed with the hospital data protection nominee, encrypted template storage and segregated operator roles so that enrolment, audit and override are not held by the same account.
Can the access system release doors automatically during a code blue?
Yes, where the hospital's code-blue trigger is integrated. We wire an emergency override path designed so that a reader fault does not gate the resuscitation team. Override behaviour is tested per theatre and per recovery bay at commissioning, each override event is logged with timestamp and operator, and the log can be exported for the hospital clinical governance committee.
Do you coordinate with the HVAC consultant on positive-pressure doors?
Yes. Positive-pressure cascades between corridor, ante-room, theatre and sterile core are owned by the mechanical consultant. Our controllers respect interlock signals from the HVAC and BMS layer so that doors do not open simultaneously where the pressure regime forbids it, preserving the air-change strategy during normal turnover.
