How do you control access to hospital drug rooms and narcotics cabinets in Abu Dhabi?

Emirtech Technology is an ADMCC-approved electronic security installer based at M44, Mussafah Industrial Area, Abu Dhabi, founded in 2018, delivering hospital drug room controlled access across Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. We install and configure the access control, MFA reader hardware and audit trail integration for hospital pharmacy main stores, ward drug rooms, OT anaesthetic drug cabinets and cold-chain refrigerators; clinical controlled-drug custody, register reconciliation and DoH compliance remain with your hospital pharmacist-in-charge and biomedical engineering team. Typical scope includes Suprema BioStation readers with cleanable surfaces for fingerprint plus card MFA at the drug room outer door, secondary reader on the controlled-drug cabinet enforcing nurse-plus-pharmacist dual-authorisation for narcotics handled under UAE Federal Narcotics Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 30 of 2021 on Combating Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances), time-windowed routine access, reason-code capture per entry, code-blue emergency override with mandatory post-event review, and event streaming to your audit-trail platform with hooks for hospital pharmacy management systems such as Cerner, Epic or MEDITECH via your IT integrator. Cold-chain fridge access is logged separately with temperature telemetry routed to your BMS. Biometric templates are stored encrypted on-controller; biometric data is sensitive personal data under UAE PDPL (Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021), so we configure consent capture, retention limits and access segregation, but the data controller remains the hospital. We are a Control4 installer working with a third-party authorised dealer; for every other brand we install through authorised UAE channels and hold no distributor or channel partner status. We are not DoH-licensed, not a controlled-drug-operated pharmacy, not a biomedical engineering firm and not affiliated with SEHA, Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, NMC, Burjeel, Cerner, Epic or MEDITECH. For a site survey at your hospital pharmacy or ward drug room, call +971 55 651 7843 or email [email protected].

How We Work With Your Hospital Teams

Coordinated delivery with pharmacy, biomedical and IT

Pharmacy Coordination

We work with the pharmacist-in-charge on role profiles, dual-control rules and reason-code lists; controlled-drug register reconciliation and DoH-licensed custody remain entirely with the hospital pharmacy team.

Biomedical Liaison

We coordinate cabinet penetrations, fridge sensor placement and cleanable finishes with hospital biomedical engineering so infection control, equipment warranty and clinical safety constraints are respected throughout install.

IT Integration

Audit events are pushed via API to the platform nominated by hospital IT; integration with Cerner, Epic or MEDITECH is delivered by your IT integrator using the hooks and event schema we publish.

ADMCC-Approved Install

All electronic security work is delivered under our ADMCC approval for Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, with documentation suitable for hospital quality, security and audit reviews at handover and routine inspection.

Scope — what we deliver and explicitly do not

Hospital drug room access touches clinical, pharmaceutical and security regulation. We are explicit about which parts Emirtech delivers and which parts remain with your DoH-licensed teams and brand-authorised partners.

  • We deliver: ADMCC-approved install and configuration of access control, MFA readers, controlled-drug cabinet dual-authorisation rules, cold-chain fridge access logging, audit trail event streaming and PDPL-aligned biometric configuration across Abu Dhabi and Al Ain hospital sites.
  • We do not deliver: controlled-drug custody, narcotics register reconciliation, clinical pharmacy operations, DoH licensing, biomedical engineering certification of medical equipment, hospital pharmacy management system implementation or clinical workflow design.
  • We are not: a DoH-licensed healthcare entity, a controlled-drug-operated pharmacy, a Ministry of Health licensee, a biomedical engineering firm, a Channel Partner or Authorised Distributor of Suprema, Cerner, Epic or MEDITECH; we hold no manufacturer-level credential of our own.
  • We are not affiliated with: Department of Health Abu Dhabi (DoH), UAE Ministry of Health, the Emirates Drug Establishment (EDE), SEHA, Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, NMC, Burjeel, Cerner, Epic, MEDITECH or any authorised hospital drug room distributor in the UAE.
  • Geographic scope is Abu Dhabi and Al Ain only for ADMCC-regulated electronic security work; we do not operate as a 24/7 SOC and hold no SIRA, ISO 27001, NESA, ADHICS or PDPL certification.
  • All brand hardware is procured through authorised UAE channels so hospital procurement and warranty pathways remain intact.

Where work falls outside our scope — clinical custody, DoH licensing, biomedical certification or pharmacy system integration — we coordinate with your nominated specialists rather than overstate what Emirtech can sign off.

Common questions

FAQs

Are you DoH-licensed or an authorised hospital drug room distributor?

No. Emirtech is an ADMCC-approved electronic security installer based in Mussafah M44, Abu Dhabi, founded in 2018. We are not DoH-licensed, not a Ministry of Health licensee, not a controlled-drug-operated pharmacy and not an authorised distributor of Suprema, Cerner, Epic or MEDITECH. We hold no manufacturer-level credential of our own; all other brands are installed through authorised UAE channels.

How is narcotics dual-control enforced on the cabinet?

A secondary MFA reader on the controlled-drug cabinet requires two distinct credentials — typically nurse plus pharmacist — to be presented within a short window before the lock releases. Each event captures both identities, a reason code and a timestamp, and is streamed to your audit-trail platform. Custody, register reconciliation and reporting under UAE Federal Narcotics Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 30 of 2021 on Combating Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances) remain with the hospital pharmacy team.

How are biometric templates handled under UAE PDPL?

Biometric template data is sensitive personal data under UAE PDPL (Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021). Templates are stored encrypted on-controller, scoped to drug-room and cabinet readers only, with configurable retention and revocation on staff exit. The hospital remains the data controller; we configure the technical controls and document them for your DPO. We are not a PDPL-certified entity and do not provide legal advice.

Can you integrate with Cerner, Epic or MEDITECH?

We publish an event schema and API hooks suitable for ingestion into hospital pharmacy management systems. Actual integration with Cerner, Epic or MEDITECH is delivered by your IT integrator and the vendor's authorised implementation partner. Emirtech is not affiliated with Cerner, Epic or MEDITECH and does not represent ourselves as an integration partner of those vendors.

What happens in a code-blue emergency override?

A pre-authorised emergency profile allows single-credential entry on nominated readers with a clearly logged override flag. Every override event triggers a mandatory post-event audit workflow shared with the pharmacist-in-charge and hospital security. The override path is agreed in writing with the hospital before commissioning and tested at factory acceptance.
