Which detection-and-response model is right for an Abu Dhabi business?

Emirtech Technology is a systems integrator (ADMCC-approved for security systems) founded in 2018 and based at M44, Mussafah Industrial Area, Abu Dhabi; reach our team on +971 55 651 7843 for a scoped EDR, MDR or XDR conversation covering Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. Choosing between these three models is mainly a question of who operates the tool, not which logo is on it. EDR (Endpoint Detection and Response) is a tool layer — products such as Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Sophos Intercept X, SentinelOne Singularity Core and CrowdStrike Falcon Pro detect and isolate threats on laptops and servers, but somebody on your side must tune policies, triage alerts and respond. MDR (Managed Detection and Response) wraps that EDR with a vendor-staffed 24/7 SOC — Sophos MDR, SentinelOne Vigilance, CrowdStrike Falcon Complete and Microsoft Sentinel managed services investigate alerts, contain hosts and call your on-call engineer when human action is required. XDR (Extended Detection and Response) extends the same detection logic across endpoint, email, identity and cloud workloads in a single console — Microsoft Defender XDR, CrowdStrike Falcon, SentinelOne Singularity Platform and Palo Alto Cortex XDR are the common platforms. Emirtech's honest role is deployment and integration. We are not a 24/7 MDR or SOC operator ourselves, we are not a Microsoft Solutions Partner with the Security specialisation, and we are not a CREST, OSCP, SANS or EC-Council certified consultancy. We hold no manufacturer-level credential of our own, used for residential automation rather than enterprise security. For EDR, MDR and XDR we install and integrate vendor products via authorised UAE channel distributors, then contract the chosen vendor's MDR service for round-the-clock coverage. We also do not hold SIRA, ISO 27001, NESA, ADHICS or PDPL certification, so where those frameworks drive the requirement we will say so and recommend an accredited specialist alongside us. Abu Dhabi and Al Ain are our priority areas, and in Dubai: IT AMC and time attendance by scheduled on-site visits, gate barriers, ANPR, video intercoms and turnstiles by Emirtech itself, and CCTV, alarm and access control through SIRA-approved partners, with Emirtech coordinating; we do not mobilise to Sharjah or the Northern Emirates. To map your endpoints, regulatory drivers and budget against the right model, call +971 55 651 7843 or email [email protected].

Core capabilities

What we cover in an EDR, MDR or XDR engagement

EDR tool deployment

Roll-out of Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Sophos Intercept X, SentinelOne Singularity Core or CrowdStrike Falcon Pro across Windows, macOS and Linux estates, with baseline policies, exclusions and on-board reporting for your Abu Dhabi sites.

MDR vendor integration

Onboarding to a vendor-operated 24/7 SOC such as Sophos MDR, SentinelOne Vigilance, CrowdStrike Falcon Complete or Microsoft Sentinel managed services, including escalation paths into your IT team, change windows and incident response runbooks.

XDR platform integration

Connecting endpoint, email, identity and cloud telemetry into Microsoft Defender XDR, CrowdStrike Falcon, SentinelOne Singularity Platform or Palo Alto Cortex XDR, so analysts work from one correlated incident view rather than four separate consoles.

Decision and scoping workshop

Structured workshop covering endpoint count, SOC headcount, regulatory drivers, budget, business hours and acceptable response times — the output is a written recommendation of EDR, MDR or XDR with named products and three-year cost ranges.

How we run an EDR, MDR or XDR decision project

We start with a discovery session at your site or over Teams, map endpoints, identities and cloud workloads against your in-house security capacity, then issue a written comparison of EDR-only, EDR plus vendor MDR, and full XDR options with named products and indicative pricing. Once you choose a direction we coordinate the authorised UAE distributor, run the technical deployment, and hand over to either your internal team or the vendor's MDR SOC. Call +971 55 651 7843 or request a free EDR/MDR/XDR consultation.

  • Endpoint and workload inventory across Abu Dhabi and Al Ain sites
  • Current control review (AV, EDR, email security, identity, firewall)
  • SOC and IT headcount, on-call cover and skills assessment
  • Regulatory and customer-contract drivers documented in plain English
  • Side-by-side comparison of EDR, MDR and XDR for your context
  • Named product shortlist with authorised UAE channel pricing
  • Three-year total cost of ownership including licences and operations
  • Deployment plan with pilot scope, success criteria and rollback
  • Integration design for SIEM, ticketing and identity providers
  • Escalation runbook between vendor MDR SOC and your IT team
  • Knowledge-transfer sessions for your administrators
  • Review sessions to retune policies and exclusions

Decision factors

How we frame the EDR vs MDR vs XDR choice

SOC maturity and headcount

If you have no dedicated security analysts, EDR alone is rarely enough — vendor MDR or a managed XDR service is usually the honest recommendation. With a small in-house team, EDR plus selective MDR escalation can work.

Regulatory and contractual drivers

ADHICS, NESA, PDPL, ISO 27001 and customer contracts often push toward documented 24/7 monitoring, retained logs and incident response. We map your obligations to product features rather than the other way round.

Budget and licensing reality

EDR licences are the smallest line; MDR and XDR carry meaningful per-endpoint or per-identity costs. We model three-year spend on authorised UAE channel pricing so finance teams see the real number, not a brochure figure.

Telemetry breadth

If most of your risk is on endpoints, EDR or EDR plus MDR is enough. If identity, email and cloud are equally exposed, XDR's correlated view across Microsoft 365, Entra ID and cloud workloads usually justifies the platform cost.

Scope — what we deliver and explicitly do not

To keep this decision guide honest, here is a clear statement of what Emirtech does and does not do around Endpoint, Managed and Extended Detection and Response in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. We would rather lose a deal than misrepresent our role.

  • We deliver: EDR deployment, MDR vendor onboarding, XDR platform integration, decision workshops, written product comparisons, pilots, rollouts and administrator knowledge transfer across Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.
  • We do not deliver: a 24/7 Emirtech-staffed SOC, in-house threat hunting, malware reverse engineering, red-team penetration testing or court-admissible digital forensics — those are contracted to specialist firms or to the vendor MDR service.
  • We are not: a Channel Partner or Authorised Distributor of Microsoft, CrowdStrike, SentinelOne, Sophos, Palo Alto, Trend Micro or Bitdefender; we hold no manufacturer-level credential of our own, and we are not a Microsoft Solutions Partner with the Security specialisation, not a CREST or OSCP penetration testing firm, not a SANS or EC-Council certified consultancy and not an ITIL 4 Accredited Training Organisation.
  • We are not affiliated with: Microsoft Defender XDR, CrowdStrike Falcon, SentinelOne, Sophos MDR, Palo Alto Cortex XDR, Trend Micro Vision One, Bitdefender GravityZone XDR, eSentire, Arctic Wolf, Expel, Red Canary or Critical Insight — we install and integrate via authorised UAE channel distributors only.
  • We hold ADMCC approval for security systems in Abu Dhabi, founded 2018, operating from M44, Mussafah Industrial Area.
  • We do not currently hold SIRA (Dubai), ISO 27001, NESA, ADHICS or PDPL certification, and we say so before any framework-driven scope is agreed.
  • Abu Dhabi and Al Ain are our priority areas, and in Dubai: IT AMC and time attendance by scheduled on-site visits, gate barriers, ANPR, video intercoms and turnstiles by Emirtech itself, and CCTV, alarm and access control through SIRA-approved partners, with Emirtech coordinating; we do not mobilise to Sharjah or the Northern Emirates.
  • All commercial proposals reference the authorised UAE distributor we will buy through, so you can verify the supply chain independently.

If any of the above changes the shape of your project, tell us early — we will adjust the recommendation or refer you to a more specialised firm rather than stretch our scope.

Common questions

FAQs

What is the simplest way to explain EDR, MDR and XDR?

EDR is the tool on the endpoint, MDR is somebody else operating that tool for you 24/7, and XDR is one platform that correlates endpoint, email, identity and cloud signals in a single console. Most Abu Dhabi SMBs end up with EDR plus vendor MDR; larger or Microsoft-heavy estates often consolidate on Defender XDR.

Does Emirtech run its own 24/7 SOC for MDR?

No. We are honest about this — Emirtech is not a 24/7 SOC or MDR provider. When 24/7 coverage is required we deploy the chosen EDR and contract the vendor's MDR service (for example Sophos MDR, SentinelOne Vigilance, CrowdStrike Falcon Complete or Microsoft Sentinel managed services) and integrate their escalation path into your IT team.

Are you an authorised partner of Microsoft, CrowdStrike, SentinelOne or Sophos?

No. We hold no manufacturer-level credential of our own. For Microsoft Defender XDR, CrowdStrike Falcon, SentinelOne and Sophos we install and integrate via authorised UAE channel distributors. We are not a Microsoft Solutions Partner with the Security specialisation and not a CREST, OSCP, SANS or EC-Council certified consultancy.

If we already have Microsoft 365 E5, do we still need a separate XDR?

Usually not — Microsoft 365 E5 includes Defender for Endpoint, Defender for Office 365, Defender for Identity and Defender for Cloud Apps, which together form Microsoft Defender XDR. The honest question is whether you have the people to operate it; if not, a Microsoft Sentinel managed service or third-party MDR overlay is the next step.

We need ADHICS or ISO 27001 alignment — can you certify us?

No, we are not an ADHICS, ISO 27001, NESA or PDPL certification body and we do not currently hold those certifications ourselves. We will map your EDR, MDR or XDR design to the relevant control families in plain English and recommend an accredited assessor or auditor to take you through formal certification.

How do we get a written quotation for our environment?

Call +971 55 651 7843, email [email protected] or use the request a quotation page. Share endpoint counts, sites in Abu Dhabi or Al Ain, current tools and any regulatory drivers, and we will return a written EDR vs MDR vs XDR comparison with named products and three-year pricing from the authorised UAE distributor.
