Dome / Bullet / PTZ / Fisheye Camera Selection — Abu Dhabi

Choose the right camera form factor for each location across your Abu Dhabi or Al Ain site — dome for discreet indoor coverage, bullet for outdoor deterrence, PTZ for operator-controlled tracking, and fisheye for wide single-point oversight. Emirtech configures and installs cameras from Hikvision, Dahua, Axis, Hanwha and Bosch under ADMCC approval.

How do you choose between dome, bullet, PTZ and fisheye cameras for an Abu Dhabi site?

Camera form factor selection should be driven by coverage geometry, environment and the deterrent vs discreet role the camera plays at each mounting point. Emirtech is an ADMCC-approved electronic security contractor founded in 2018, operating from M44, Mussafah Industrial Area, Abu Dhabi, and we configure and install cameras across four form factors. Dome cameras are discreet and vandal-resistant — best for indoor lobbies, retail malls, hospital corridors and ceiling-mounted indoor areas where the dome housing hides the lens direction. Bullet cameras are visibly assertive and act as a clear deterrent — best for outdoor perimeter walls, gates, car parks and warehouse loading bays, typically specified with IP67-rated housing and a sunshield to handle Abu Dhabi's heat and glare. PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) cameras are operator-controlled or auto-tracking — best for staffed monitoring rooms, large yards, port-side facilities and any site where a single camera must follow a moving subject across a wide area. Fisheye 360-degree cameras use a single ceiling-mounted lens to cover an entire room — best for open-plan offices, multi-cubicle retail floors, classrooms and small warehouses where a single camera replaces three or four fixed units. Selection factors we weigh on every survey include coverage area and dewarping needs, deterrent vs discreet role, weather and IP rating, motion-tracking requirements, and low-light performance — typically Hikvision DarkFighter, Dahua Starlight or Axis Lightfinder for night-time clarity. We work with Hikvision, Dahua, Axis Communications, Hanwha Vision and Bosch Security, sourced via authorised UAE distribution channels. To be clear on scope: we install and configure these cameras commercially, but we are not an Authorised Distributor or Channel Partner of Hikvision, Dahua, Axis, Hanwha or Bosch. We hold no manufacturer-level credential of our own. ADMCC-regulated CCTV work is delivered within the Emirate of Abu Dhabi only. Form Factor Roles

When to choose dome, bullet, PTZ or fisheye

Dome — Discreet Indoor

Vandal-resistant dome housing hides lens direction — ideal for hotel lobbies, mall walkways, hospital corridors, school classrooms and office ceilings where a low-profile fixed view is preferred over visible deterrence.

Bullet — Outdoor Deterrent

Clearly visible cylindrical body mounted on perimeter walls, gates, car parks and loading bays. Specified with IP67 outdoor rating, sunshield and IR for Abu Dhabi heat, glare and overnight perimeter coverage.

PTZ — Operator Tracking

Pan-tilt-zoom cameras for staffed control rooms, large yards, ports and stadiums. Auto-tracking variants follow a moving subject; preset tours patrol critical zones on a scheduled rotation when no operator is present.

Fisheye — 360° Single Point

Ceiling-mounted 360-degree lens with software dewarping covers an entire room from one mount. Best for open-plan offices, multi-cubicle retail floors, small warehouses and meeting rooms — replaces three or four fixed cameras.

Selection checklist for each mounting point

Before specifying a camera at each location, we walk the site with you and capture coverage geometry, lighting conditions, mounting height, cable routes and the regulatory role of the camera. The checklist below is what our surveyors apply on every Abu Dhabi project — and it is what drives the final form factor recommendation per mounting point. • Indoor or outdoor mounting — outdoor mandates IP66/IP67-rated housing and sunshield for Abu Dhabi heat
  • Coverage geometry — fixed cone (dome/bullet), full-room 360° (fisheye), or operator-controlled wide-area (PTZ)
  • Deterrent vs discreet role — bullet for visible deterrence, dome for low-profile interior coverage
  • Vandal-resistance rating — IK10 housing for school corridors, public lobbies, car park stairwells
  • Low-light requirement — Hikvision DarkFighter, Dahua Starlight or Axis Lightfinder for sub-lux scenes
  • Motion-tracking need — PTZ with auto-track for perimeter patrol, gate approach, port quayside
  • Mounting height and lens focal length — taller mounts need narrower field of view for face capture
  • Cable infrastructure — PoE single-cable for IP cameras, coax fallback only on legacy DVR retrofit
  • Storage and bitrate — 4K bullet on perimeter consumes more NVR storage than 2MP dome indoors
  • Dewarping support — fisheye requires NVR or VMS that supports client-side dewarping per stream
  • Regulatory role — entry/exit, cashier, safe room camera placement under ADMCC CCTV guidance
  • Brand standardisation — single manufacturer per site simplifies NVR, VMS and spare parts

Environment & Performance

Brand and environmental factors we weigh

Outdoor Heat & Glare

Abu Dhabi outdoor mounts need IP66/IP67 housing, sunshield, wide dynamic range (WDR) for backlit gates and corrosion-resistant brackets near coast and industrial M44 environments — typically bullet cameras with extended-temperature ratings.

Low-Light Night Coverage

Perimeter and car park scenes need true low-light sensors — Hikvision DarkFighter, Dahua Starlight or Axis Lightfinder — paired with IR illumination range matched to mounting distance for usable overnight footage.

Brand Selection

We configure and install Hikvision, Dahua, Axis Communications, Hanwha Vision and Bosch Security, sourced via authorised UAE distribution. We are not an Authorised Distributor or Channel Partner of any of these camera manufacturers.

NVR & VMS Compatibility

Form factor choice must align with NVR channel licensing and VMS support — fisheye dewarping, PTZ joystick control, ONVIF profile compatibility and storage retention per channel are confirmed before specification.

Scope — what we deliver and explicitly do not

Emirtech is open about what falls inside our camera form factor selection and installation scope across Abu Dhabi Emirate, and what falls outside it. This honesty matters when you are specifying CCTV for an ADMCC-regulated site.

  • We deliver: site survey and per-location camera form factor recommendation (dome / bullet / PTZ / fisheye), brand and model specification, IP-rated housing selection for outdoor Abu Dhabi conditions, NVR and VMS configuration, structured cabling, commissioning and handover under ADMCC approval within Abu Dhabi Emirate.
  • We do not deliver: SIRA-regulated CCTV work in Dubai or other emirates, 24/7 SOC monitoring of the camera feeds, ISO 27001 / NESA / ADHICS / PDPL compliance certification, DoH / ADAFSA / DCT facility licensing, or ADCD fire-alarm certification.
  • We are not: an Authorised Distributor, Channel Partner or Reseller of Hikvision, Dahua, Axis Communications, Hanwha Vision or Bosch Security — we install and configure these brands commercially via authorised UAE distribution. We hold no manufacturer-level credential of our own.
  • We are not affiliated with: Hikvision, Dahua, Axis Communications, Hanwha Vision, Bosch Security, or authorised camera distributors in UAE — no agency, sponsorship or endorsement is claimed or implied.
  • ADMCC-regulated electronic security work is delivered within the Emirate of Abu Dhabi only — including Abu Dhabi city, Al Ain and Al Dhafra region.
  • We do not operate a 24/7 Security Operations Centre and do not offer SOC-as-a-Service for camera feed monitoring.

If your project needs SIRA-regulated installation in Dubai, 24/7 SOC monitoring or formal compliance certification, we will say so up front and recommend an appropriate partner — we will not misrepresent our scope.

Common questions

FAQs

Which form factor is best for a typical Abu Dhabi office?

Most offices use a mix — dome cameras in corridors, lobbies and meeting rooms for discreet ceiling-mounted coverage, plus fisheye 360-degree cameras in open-plan zones to cover entire floors with fewer units. Bullet cameras are reserved for outdoor entries and car park access.

When should I specify a PTZ instead of multiple fixed cameras?

PTZ makes sense when a single mounting point must cover a very large area and you have either a staffed monitoring room or an auto-tracking requirement — large yards, ports, stadium perimeters and warehouse loading bays. For unattended fixed coverage, several dome or bullet cameras usually cost less per square metre.

Do you install Hikvision, Dahua, Axis, Hanwha and Bosch cameras as an authorised partner?

We install and configure all five brands commercially, sourced via authorised UAE distribution channels. However, we are not an Authorised Distributor, Channel Partner or Reseller of Hikvision, Dahua, Axis, Hanwha or Bosch — we hold no manufacturer-level credential of our own.

How do fisheye cameras compare to four fixed cameras for the same area?

A single ceiling-mounted fisheye covers a full 360-degree room with software dewarping, replacing three or four fixed cameras in open-plan offices, classrooms and retail floors. The trade-off is image resolution per dewarped region and the need for NVR or VMS that supports fisheye dewarping per channel.

Do you handle SIRA-regulated CCTV installation in Dubai?

No. We are ADMCC-approved and our regulated electronic security work is delivered within the Emirate of Abu Dhabi only — including Abu Dhabi city, Al Ain and Al Dhafra. SIRA-regulated work in Dubai is delivered through SIRA-approved partners, with Emirtech coordinating.
