Concrete hammer-drill mounting
SDS-plus hammer drill with 8–10 mm masonry bit, plastic wall plug and masonry screw for reinforced concrete walls in older Abu Dhabi towers, villas and Mussafah warehouses with rebar detection before pilot holes.
Reader Mounting Method · Abu Dhabi
Reader mounting practice across Abu Dhabi and Al Ain depends on the substrate behind the finish — reinforced concrete in older blocks, plasterboard in newer fit-outs. We select the correct anchor, back-box and cable-entry method for each wall type.

In short: This guide covers “Concrete Wall vs Drywall Reader Mounting” for businesses in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. It is written by Emirtech, an independent integrator. For a specific site, a survey or assessment comes first, then a written itemised quotation.

Emirtech is an ADMCC-approved electronic-security contractor founded in 2018, based at M44, Mussafah Industrial Area, Abu Dhabi, reachable on +971 55 651 7843. Reader mounting across Abu Dhabi splits into two clear substrate families: most older buildings — villas in Khalifa City, towers along Hamdan Street, warehouses in Mussafah and ICAD — have reinforced concrete walls finished in plaster, requiring an SDS hammer-drill with an 8–10 mm masonry bit, a plastic wall plug and a masonry screw, with careful rebar avoidance using a cable/rebar detector before any pilot hole. Newer fit-outs in Al Maryah Island, Yas Mall back-of-house and Reem Island offices typically have drywall / gypsum plasterboard over metal studs, where we use toggle bolts, butterfly anchors, drywall-mate fixings or SE-type hollow-wall anchors — never raw screws into plasterboard alone. For each reader we choose surface-mount with a back-box (HID Signo 20/40, ZKTeco KR series, Suprema BioStation 3) or flush-mount where the back-box pattern allows, and select side-entry, rear-entry or surface-conduit cable routing to keep the tail concealed and the bezel flush. We install and configure these readers commercially through authorised UAE channels and document the mounting method, anchor type, torque and back-box reference in the handover pack. We are not an Authorised Distributor or Channel Partner of HID Global, ZKTeco or Suprema; we hold no manufacturer-level credential of our own. We do not hold SIRA, ISO 27001, NESA, ADHICS, PDPL, DoH, ADAFSA, DCT or ADCD fire-alarm certifications and we do not operate a 24/7 SOC. ADMCC-regulated electronic security work is delivered within Abu Dhabi Emirate only. Mounting capabilities
SDS-plus hammer drill with 8–10 mm masonry bit, plastic wall plug and masonry screw for reinforced concrete walls in older Abu Dhabi towers, villas and Mussafah warehouses with rebar detection before pilot holes.
Toggle bolts, butterfly anchors, drywall-mate and SE-type hollow-wall fixings sized to plasterboard thickness for newer fit-outs on Reem Island, Al Maryah and Yas — never raw screws into gypsum.
Surface and flush back-box patterns matched to HID Signo 20/40, ZKTeco KR-series and Suprema BioStation 3 footprints, with mullion mounts where door frame width requires a narrow reader profile.
Side-entry, rear-entry and surface-conduit cable paths selected per substrate and finish — concealed rear-entry through concrete, surface trunking on drywall where chasing is not permitted by the landlord.
Every reader install starts with a substrate survey, anchor selection and back-box reference recorded against the door schedule. To arrange a mounting walk-through for your Abu Dhabi site, call +971 55 651 7843 or request a free reader-mounting consultation.
Hardware-specific mounting
Single-gang and mullion back-box patterns, surface and flush variants installed on concrete and drywall with HID-specified mounting plate and gasket — commercial install only, not as an Authorised Distributor.
ZKTeco KR500/KR600 readers mounted with bracket and rear-entry cable on concrete, or toggle-bolt fixing on plasterboard with cable-tail routed through stud cavity to controller cabinet.
Biometric reader mounted to vendor back-box on concrete with masonry anchors or to drywall with hollow-wall fixings, with PoE / RS-485 tail routed through rear knockout — install only, not distributor.
Aluminium door frame and narrow mullion mounting using self-drilling screws or bonded anchors where frame thickness prevents through-drilling, with cable routed inside frame channel to controller.
Reader mounting is one component of access-control delivery. We are transparent about the substrate work we perform, the brands we install commercially and the regulator credentials we hold — and those we do not.
Every mounting choice — anchor, back-box, cable entry — is recorded per door so future maintenance teams can replace hardware without re-surveying the substrate.

Common questions
We drill an 8–10 mm pilot with an SDS-plus hammer drill, set a plastic wall plug and torque a masonry screw to manufacturer spec. We sweep each pilot location with a rebar/live-cable detector before drilling to avoid reinforcement and embedded conduits in older towers and Mussafah warehouses.
Toggle bolts, butterfly anchors, drywall-mate or SE-type hollow-wall anchors sized to the plasterboard thickness — typically 12.5 mm or 15 mm gypsum on metal studs. We never use raw screws into plasterboard alone, as the reader load and cable pull will eventually tear the board.
No. We hold no manufacturer-level credential of our own. We install HID Signo, ZKTeco KR-series and Suprema BioStation readers commercially through authorised UAE channels, but we are not a Channel Partner, Authorised Distributor or endorsed reseller of these brands.
Both, subject to substrate. Flush-mount with a recessed back-box is possible on drywall and on concrete where chasing is permitted by the landlord. Surface-mount with a vendor back-box is the default on finished concrete walls where chasing is not allowed, and on glass or aluminium mullions.
Yes. Our ADMCC-regulated electronic-security scope covers Abu Dhabi Emirate including Abu Dhabi Island, Reem, Al Maryah, Khalifa City, Mussafah, ICAD, Yas, Saadiyat and Al Ain. We do not undertake ADMCC-regulated work outside Abu Dhabi Emirate.
