Home Automation in Al Salam

Automation in Al Salam is rarely about spectacle. The villas here are family homes in a quiet, tightly knit district, and what their owners actually ask for is composure: lighting that follows the household's day without a wall of switches, air conditioning that stops cooling empty rooms, a gate and front door answerable from one screen, and a single away scene that settles the whole villa when the family travels. Emirtech Technology designs automation to that brief — wired KNX where a villa is being renovated, dependable wireless retrofits where it is occupied — and integrates it with the security systems we install as an ADMCC-approved integrator. Established in 2018, headquartered in Mussafah M44, serving the Abu Dhabi mainland. The site survey is free, the quotation itemised and written, and the system handed over only when the family can drive it unaided.

Why choose Emirtech for home automation in Al Salam?

The character of Al Salam shapes an automation brief more than any catalogue does. These are perimeter-walled national-family villas — large floor areas, a majlis that hosts guests, courtyards lived in through the cooler months, and households spanning generations — so the system must serve a nine-year-old and a grandparent with the same ease as the engineer who configured it. That rules out fragile app-only setups. We keep physical keypads at the room doors with scenes labelled plainly, put the app on top for the family members who want it, and ensure every automated circuit still works as an ordinary switch if the network is down. The fabric of the villa drives the technology choice. In an occupied home, chasing walls for bus cable is disproportionate, so we deploy wireless actuators behind existing switch plates and at the distribution board — no dust, no redecoration, minimal disruption. In a renovation or new build, we cable KNX properly while the walls are open, the more durable investment. Climate is the quiet workhorse either way: AC integration with schedules and occupancy logic, because cooling is where a large villa's running cost lives. And because we are first a security integrator — ADMCC-approved, working across Abu Dhabi since 2018 — entry is engineered into the same fabric: gate, garage, video door phone and alarm states all present in one interface, with travel modes that arm the villa and simulate evening occupancy. Our Mussafah headquarters keeps Al Salam within a comfortable service radius on the mainland side. Every engagement opens with a free survey — walking the villa, listing what should happen by itself — and closes with an itemised written quotation, priced by room and function, so the household decides the scope with the full picture in hand.

Home Automation in Al Salam — Emirtech

Retrofit gracefully, or cable properly — the villa decides

We hold no ideology about protocols; we hold opinions about appropriateness. An occupied Al Salam villa with finished walls and a family in residence is a retrofit project: wireless dimming and switching modules concealed behind the existing plates, smart control overlaid on the AC, plug-in measurement where useful — reversible, and kind to the décor. A villa under renovation is a different opportunity: KNX bus cabling laid alongside the electrical first fix costs comparatively little at that stage and yields decades of stable, vendor-independent control. Either route ends in the same place — scenes for morning, for hosting in the majlis, and for departure — but choosing the wrong route for the building wastes money. The survey is where we make that judgement with you, room by room, before a dirham is committed.

Entry deserves particular care in a walled villa, because the gate is far from the door and callers arrive unseen. We fold the intercom into the automation layer — answer the gate on the same screen that runs the lights, or from a phone abroad — as described in our video door phone work in Al Salam. For the broader picture of platforms, ecosystems and what whole-home control includes, the home automation overview covers our practice in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. An Al Salam project starts with the free survey and an itemised written quotation; phased delivery — lighting first, climate later — is entirely normal.

  • Lighting scenes on labelled keypads for the majlis, dining and family rooms
  • AC integration with schedules, occupancy logic and room-by-room setpoints
  • Gate, garage and video door phone control inside the same interface
  • Away and travel modes that arm security and simulate evening occupancy
  • Courtyard and garden lighting — and irrigation — on sunset-aware schedules
  • Wireless retrofit modules for occupied villas; KNX cabling for renovations

Al Salam use cases

Occupied family villas

Retrofit automation without redecoration: wireless modules behind existing switches bring scene lighting, AC scheduling and app control to a lived-in home with minimal disruption. Everything still operates as normal switches for family members — and guests — who prefer the wall to the app.

Renovations & new builds

While walls are open, KNX bus cabling costs little and changes everything: centralised dimming, shading and climate control with decades of supported life. We coordinate with your contractor on the first fix and commission the system as finishes complete — one integrator accountable for the result.

The majlis & hosting

A majlis works hard in this district. One keypad press moves the room from family evening to receiving guests: lighting levels adjusted, AC pre-cooling, and the gate camera quietly available on the nearest screen as cars arrive. Small theatre, considerable usefulness.

Travel & seasonal absence

When the household travels, a single departure scene sets the villa: AC to economy, water heaters off, alarm armed, gates locked, and evening lights simulating occupancy. Door-phone calls forward to the family abroad, so the villa answers visitors even while it stands empty.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can automation be added to an occupied Al Salam villa without construction work?
Yes — this is the usual route for an occupied villa. Wireless actuators install behind your existing switch plates and inside the distribution board, AC control replaces or overlays the thermostats, and no walls are chased. Rooms are normally returned to use the same day. The free survey confirms the timeline for your villa and module compatibility with your wiring before we quote anything.
What does villa automation cost?
Scope decides it: how many rooms, which functions — lighting, climate, entry, irrigation — and whether the villa is wired or wireless. Rather than publish misleading ranges, we survey free of charge and return an itemised written quotation priced by room and function, so you can trim or phase the scope transparently. Many households begin with lighting and climate, adding entry integration later on the same platform.
Does everything stop working if the internet drops?
No — and this is a design requirement, not luck. Scenes, schedules and keypads run on local controllers inside the villa; the internet is needed only for remote app access and voice assistants. Every automated circuit also remains operable as a conventional switch. When the connection returns, remote access resumes by itself. We demonstrate exactly this behaviour at handover.
How does automation connect to our security systems?
Carefully, and in one direction of accountability. As an ADMCC-approved security integrator we install the alarm, cameras and door phone within the ADMCC framework, then surface them in the automation interface: armed states in the departure scene, gate video on the screens, recordings remaining on the on-site recorder. The automation layer never weakens the security layer — it simply makes it convenient to live with.
What ongoing support do you provide?
An annual maintenance contract covers controller backups, firmware updates, battery checks on wireless devices, seasonal schedule adjustments and priority callout. Families also call us for one-off changes — a new scene, an extra keypad, a rewired room. Mussafah M44 to Al Salam is a short drive, so visits are easy to arrange, and the documentation handed over at commissioning means any engineer arriving later understands the system at a glance.
